LG Loves Windows, Proves it with GM730.

This is big MWC news, LG have firmly planted their feet in the Windows Mobile camp, telling the world it will be their OS of choice and they will be releasing a total of 50 phones running the Microsoft operating system before 2012, which for you maths fans out there, is 1.5 phones per month starting from March!

LG Hero KU580

LG are launching yet another phone with a snappy name that doesn’t really fit with an electrical product… but still sounds pretty cool. Welcome to the LG Hero!

Actually there’s a bit of confusion as to its name, some people are describing it as another follow up to the Chocolate, bearing as it does more than a passing resemblence to the latter with its red touch-sensitive navigational backlights (see pictures below), but the Hero it is, and the KU580 to give it its full model number.

The Nokia 6120 Classic - What a package!

Ok, on first glance the Nokia 6120 Classic doesn’t exactly make you go weak at the knees, but look beneath the surface and this is actually quite a remarkable little phone.

Top 10 Most Expensive Mobile Phones in the World

Until recently, the vast majority of mobile phones had been priced between £100 and £300, with only Vertu, a division of Nokia, manufacturing uber-premium phones. With prices starting at around £4,000 Vertu phones are only for the filthy rich, and the super famous.

However, Vertu’s monopoly of the luxury phone market is coming to an end with the launch of several new luxury mobile makers, including Gresso, Mobiado and GoldVish. Other mobile phone manufacturers are also partnering with luxury brands to produce a range of premium mobile phones, such as LG and Prada, D&G and Motorola, and now Tag Heuer and Modelabs. Finally, there are the ridiculous, super-expensive one-offs, made purely for headline grabbing, such as Goldvish’s “Le million”, worth a cool $1,000,000, see below for details!

We were first introduced to the C510 at the tail end of 2008, under the codename of Kate, before a better set of leaked pictures came online at the beginning of January 2009. Now it's set for release, we have the final specs and a complete overview of this new CyberShot camera phone and it's looking like a great buy for anyone wanting a competent, stylish mid-range mobile!

We knew the W705 as the Rika when it was leaked onto the Internet back in September 2008 where it was instantly dismissed as a Walkman version of the uninspiring G705 GPS mobile. Now we have the official announcement out of the way - it was the final Sony Ericsson to be unveiled in 2008 - and the release date is upon us, we can see this initial reaction sold the W705 short, as it's a little more than a G705 in a pretty dress!

Mobile banking for the unbanked set to grow: CGAP

Analysis, CGAP, Mobile, Banking: CGAP, the global microfinance centre has been releasing new research and data to encourage telecom operators, financial institutions and governments to see the business potential in expanding access to financial services for poor people in developing markets. The current economic climate makes the need for widespread availability of safe alternatives to cash even more pressing.

Mobile phones grow faster than predicted

Mobile phone sales in 2006 will rise to 986 million, according to a report from research group Gartner.

The analyst has seen stronger than expected sales of 251 million mobiles in the third quarter of the year, 21.4 per cent rise on the same period last year.

The rise came in spite of a slow down in the sales of replacement handsets to existing customers.

The Future of Cell Phones

Mobile phone technology is advancing rapidly, but what can people expect to be using in 2015? What will their mobile be able to do and what will it look like? Nokia has collaborated with Industrial Design students from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London to come up with some ideas.
So your cell phone can take and send pictures, even video. You can text message and download ringtones and games. Maybe you can even watch a little television and do some limited web browsing. But if you're a person who's been using mobile phones for a number of years, you can appreciate just how far they've come since the early days when we carried around bricks in dubiously bright neoprene covers, and simply trying to get a phone and service required the kind of stringent credit checks associated with entry to Fort Knox - or being able to rent a video in the early days.

The economic benefits of mobile phones

n a recent report published by McKinsey's the value of mobile phones in developing markets is quantified. It is shown that the economic impact of mobile phones is significantly higher than the direct value to the mobile operators. This is because of a number of factors, but predominantly because of the productivity gains generated by users of mobile phones. The report then concludes that governments and regulatory bodies could amplify these gains by simplifying rules and deploying strategies to smooth the roll-out of mobile phones.

The public health benefits of mobile phones

The bread and butter of public health on call is identifying contacts in the case of suspected meningococcal disease. On the whole this is straightforward but can occasionally cause difficulties. Most areas that I have worked in include several universities, and during October it is common to experience the problem of contact tracing in the student population.

Contract Mobile Phones: Benefits Unlimited

Mobile phones are coming with many innovative offers and deals these days. The features and facilities of the handsets have improved a lot in recent times. Therefore, the prices of such devices have also increased. The common man finds it difficult to purchase them as they can not afford to spend a huge sum of money on mobile phones. The mobiles making companies and the network providers understood the need of bringing the offers & deals that could make the high-end handsets within reach of the ordinary people. It resulted into the launch of several phone deals and schemes.
